Lulimbi Camp is the latest addition to the camps of the Virunga National Park.
This brand new tented camp opened in July 2016 and is set on the Ishasha River.
It has the Queen Elizabeth National Park in Uganda on the far end of the river bank and thus Lulimbi has great access to the central area of Virunga where it is possible to go on a classic safari and see a vartiety of animals and birdlife like hippos and buffalo, but also elephants, warthog and topi are easy to spot. In the sky you’ll find an abundance of eagles and storks.
Here you really noticed the enormous diversity the Virunga Park has to offer, watching the crocodiles bask on the sand banks it all feels far away from the Gorilla and Chimpanzee habitat you’ll have spent the first days of your visit to the park in.
But in fact it is only a short flight away with the Park’s light aircraft that which gives you a stunning and unique view of the complete park.
From Lulimbi camp walking and 4×4 safaris are organized. Going on a walk accross the savannah towards Lake Edward is absolutly rewarding. The walks and drives are as always fully guided by the best rangers of the Virunga Park.
Lulimbi Camp consist out of eight tents which are stretched out along the river and come with running solar heated water and toilets. Each tent offers a small verandah from where you can watch the river pass by and spot the Pied Kingfishers hovering around the massive hippos which always reside close to Lulimbi.
